Mug@Home Day, can’t believe I just spent the whole day sitting in front of my computer looking up the Royal Schools of Music and Berklee.

So much information!!!111oneone

I think it started with the thought of taking SATs. (Anxiety! But apparently I don’t have to, for the colleges I’ve checked.) Hmm, US? Boston? UK? London? So far away from home. Perhaps I am too naive..

This week’s been rather slow and tiring. Glad the weekend’s here.

Dr Kelly Tang’s talk on Monday was interesting! Apparently Colin played for one of his compositions 4 years ago! Like, wow. He sounded damn good in the recording la. And to think I met Colin just the day before haha.

Founder’s Day rehearsal ended SURPRISINGLY early near 4ish. We only went through the entire thing once. And last year it last till what, 6?! There were three runs of it or something. Gosh. Had sectionals after that.

Band Lunch today was pretty good. Really tired though.

Gonna pick up scores from Esplande Library tomorrow then clarinet lesson. Better finish my work/revision before leaving the house. Don’t think I will get the rest I need this weekend/next weekend/next next weekend until after Alumni Concert.

I didn’t even do anything to you. Why? Is this being fair to me? Or wait, fairness doesn’t really seem to exist in your life does it?

Highlight of the week: Yam Celebration!

A unanimous decision made by Amos and myself the previous week. We decided to organise a birthday dinner on Friday (which he can invite whoever he wishes to) as well as get him whatever yam things we could find. Take a look at our list:

22022008.jpg

However, we only managed to get some of the items. Lol, not an easy feat!

Stayed in school to do work until Amos ended his symposium thingy. We split the shopping route: Amos to go to Wah Chee to buy Yam Ring/Yam Basket (Some Chinese food), myself to go to Dover market to buy Yam Milk Tea and Yam Pau. Amos reached HollandV first and got Yam Bread from CJade Bread and Taro Turnover from BK. While traveling from Dover to HollandV, I started to suspect that I was on the same bus as the rest of them (Daryl Bevan Zhanyi Jennchong Kahwei) because I thought I saw Jenn on the upper deck while crossing the road to rush for the bus. Hence I attempted to disguise myself by tying my hair differently and clipping up my fringe which made me look like a noob, as well as plan alternative routes to Cold Storage from the bus terminal. Having much confidence in getting off the bus first and fleeing from from the terminal, I was about to stand at the door when suddenly Daryl came down and alighted just as the bus stopped! OMG, I was like shit! And attempted to squash myself against the standing area (file over my face, eyes peeping over the top, ACJC OGLs staring weirdly at me from the back of the bus, EZ-link checker uncle staring at me waiting for me to go off the bus) while the entire gang of them trooped off the bus, without turning back or seeing me HAHA :D What a close shave. It was so retarded. My alternative route worked, apparently, cause they didn’t see me at all when I sprinted into the block of flats from the other side of the bus. So I met Amos at Cold Storage and we sourced for yam products (yam paste, yam cake, yam ice cream, yam sweets, yam chips) but failed. Then we went to 7-eleven, which didn’t have any either. Finally to HollandV Market where we managed to buy the original YAM itself, from a vegetable stall. (Gosh it is so gargantuan.) We also couldn’t find or ni at the market or Food Junction so we decided to forget it. Stuffed everything into my poor bag and sneaked them into NYDC, where everyone was waiting for us. Oh yes, I gave Daryl 5 packets of Reese’s too :D Gua came later on with Yam Potong ice cream Lol. Shared baked pasta with her for dinner, then all of us decided to buy a Band Aid Mudpie for Daryl as a Birthday cake :) It got passed around and since Daryl was too full we played Caoji Mima to finish the food (!!!) LOL. We added cheese, chilli flakes and.. tabasco! ZOMG. Freaking hot!! Gosh. Unfortunately for me I changed place with Kahwei and my half of the table (Bevan Zhanyi Jenn and myself) kept getting to be the ones eating that (progressively) disgusting glob of melting mudpie. Actually, I was the one who had to choose between 2 or 3 numbers each time, causing the rest of the boys to eat. Always!! Bad fengshui. -looks at Jenn- LOL So after everyone got their dose of that sweet-sour-spicy-cheesy-weird remnants of mudpie, we finally got Daryl to eat it! Perhaps because it was his birthday celebration (or his ‘Happy Birthday’ sign that came with the candle, which he claimed to be the Immunity Idol), he didn’t get to eat it at all! Lucky boy. So when he finally ate it (it was some paste by then), we ended the game and went to Essential Brew! Again. Less bitching, more watching (of the boys playing cards, boring stuff), slightly sleepy, more ghost stories. Yam had a bad case of burps/hiccups so it was quite amusing seeing how he still attempted to sing Chicago songs and play cards. Left at midnight again, and we were wondering why our free dessert didn’t come like last week LOL because we stayed till the same timing. (Probably cause Amos and Daryl didn’t do their ‘All That Jazz’ sexy erotic poses again! LOL) Plus it was a Friday again and my voucher couldn’t work again, so damn! Lol. So many agains. Cabbed home with Jenn, BFF manz.

Happy Yam Day, Daryl! :D Enjoy the Reese’s and get your mum to cook Or Ni for you from the yam we bought! :D

I’m going to do a SUPER LONG detailed and visual post, so be excited! :D

Monday

Rushed to City Hall as soon as I finished bathing after Swim PE to meet Cheryl and Delia for our Valentine’s clique date. Too bad Nengzi couldn’t come! :( Boo I miss you, nan peng you! Lol. Well I was the earliest (for a change! Wow!) so I went to buy donuts for both of them (I suddenly remembered about the gift exchange we were going to have). Dropped by the Esplanade Library to collect the scores that I had absent-mindedly left there on Saturday night before meeting the two at Marina Square. Settled on eating Sakae Sushi for dinner after an extremely long time, lol. We ate pretty much, I ate about 6 or 7 plates? And we had a great time catching up! (Even though I think I talked the most, haha) After dinner we went to Max Brenner’s Chocolate Bar at the Esplanade Mall for Chocolate Fondue! (Highlight of the date) We had to order extra fruits to dip in the fondue because it was too yummy to waste! Lol. At the end of it, we gave our presents to each other and I realised it was some sort of lucky draw exchange rather than a buy-something-for-everyone exchange so the lucky person who got all the donuts was Cher (okay there were only 3 donuts). Delia got Cher’s chocolates and I got Delia’s necklace. OMG! From Mintmark. It must have cost a bomb I tell you. Look, so pretty!

11022008-13.jpg

Its a silver chain with a pendant that has 2 hearts locked together. One of the hearts is just silver while the other’s frosted! :D Omg. Its damn pretty, I can’t believe I only bought donuts ): But anyway, Thanks Delia mummy! :D I’ll treasure it! One of the best Valentine’s gifts I’ve received, ever :D After our fondue we took photos and went our separate ways, then home to crash.

Tuesday

Send-instruments-for-repair-day! Thankfully I had Gerdine to help me lug all the instruments from ACJC to Buona Vista MRT to Aljunied MRT to Yong Da Building to Windworks workshop, and back! :D We sent an oboe, flute, tenor sax, trumpet and trombone for repair. I was sure I could manage all the instruments by myself, but judging how the tenor sax killed my back and the trombone case handle cracked my knuckles, I am, once again, thankful for Gerdine’s help. Lol. And I am very grateful to Sean and Yoke for the extremely fast and efficient repairing on-the-spot! Whee. But that meant carrying all that back again, (minus the trumpet, plus an alto sax) which isn’t that joyous. Haha. Still, it feels great to have done so much QM work in a day. Love the job and the department always!

Wednesday

Cross country day! I had three-quarters of a mind to pon it (the entire day, not just Xcountry), and desperately wanted to actually, to stay home and work/rest. Unfortunately (apparently) ponning the Xcountry itself would require an MC, which I am not sick enough to attain one, or perhaps I was too lazy to buy one from the polyclinic. (Integrity, integrity! School values know!) So I went for both, school and Xcountry. Mass PE was (yay!) slack for once, but OMG fast push ups can kill. My arms ached for the following few days thanks to pushups at Crotchet = 120! But anyway, school ended quickly, took 2 buses to West Coast Park where the Xcountry was held. I think we made headlines, like, ACJC Students cramp up buses 198 and 176 due to Xcountry, or something. Lol. Didn’t do much there other than slack, talk, sit around, buy stuff from the classes doing fund-raising there, and mainly, walk. Emily and I walked the whole Xcountry route, and in fact I think we took the shorter route (ie. cheated) LOL. Weather was perfect, no blazing hot sunshine and really windy. Sat around after the walk and dozed off just before we had to stand up for the school anthem, then we were dismissed and there was this.. ultimate plan carried out by Edwin and Zhan. Unbelievably hilarious, Michelle and Rachel joined them to climb the pyramid structure to watch intently while Gladys and I watched from afar. Haha :D After the commotion we went to Macs to get some food (ice cream!) before going separate ways. Went to Vivo, to PageOne to get last-minute Vday gifts and Candy Empire to get heart-shaped chocolates :)

Gladys Heng’s solo photo. (Very windy)

2AA4 Band people, minus Edwin, who was running competitive, in the ‘Run for Love’ ie. Eugene, who broke his leg on his birthday. Zhan ran as well, and they ended up rankless. LOL :D My photoshop rocks!

MichelleTan, Gerdine, Soomin, Emily. As you can see, very very windy. And we were on a hugging spree. (PS. I squatted for the second photo, so. Yes I am not that short :D)

Smiley! that says ‘AC!’. On the track.

Pawprints! On the track. Cute.

Thursday – Vday!

Superb day! :D It felt great giving cards and chocolates to my beloved friends! It makes me so glad to see them happy :D And thank you so much to all my friends who gave me presents! Chocolates, sweets, muffins, cupcakes, brownies, Diabetes (LOL)… and cards, notes and small gifts! Thanks lovelies! <3 Oh and after band, Emily and I went out on a (supposedly) hot date! Well, we couldn’t find any place to eat at HollandV (chock full of couples!) so we ended up joining the rest of the band dinner group at BK and tapaoed Subway D: Lol. But it was so fun walking around HollandV and practically sneering at the couples who had a bouquet/rose/flower in hand, cause we had like about 5 or 6 flowers each and its like, we just own! LOL. Every couple who walked past us had a smaller bouquet/rose/flower, so. Funny! Heh. Had a great dinner and chat, one in a long time. Mudpie another day okay! Love!

14022008-2.jpg
ACJC, Just love it. This year’s Vday design, which I think is a really great pity that they didn’t make T-shirts for it! It is SO pretty and I’m sure LOADS of people will buy! Much nicer than last year’s!

14022008-8.jpg
The flowers I received! Sunflowers from Nengzi and Em, Roses from Delia and Sheree, Gerbera from Cheryl! Thank you! :D (and Yay for Inter-JC flower sending service!)

14022008-3.jpg14022008-4.jpg
Gladys Heng, before and after. Before, with Michelle’s, Samho’s and her own flowers. After, her own flowers. HAHAHA.

Emily Phaniphanapooinapooiboon. Apparently thats what her (combined) section (from Xmas concert) calls her.

Friday

Lunch with Priscilla Yuen at IB canteen! OMG I missed her SO much! Haha. Didn’t really eat lunch cause I was trying to rush an essay (turned out I wrote only one line while I was there). Ernest appeared so I started on my persuasion talk again, Lol. We all had lunch together (plus a few other Y5s) and then I walked Yuen to the band room. I swear Ronald grew taller (and no Ronald I’m not the one who grew shorter) and I think I ought to buy an organiser for someone whose name starts with G. -glares- Who will probably not bring it to school (like his phone) anyway so! Some busy boy. Lol. Anyway, rushed home for Math tuition (I’ve no life I know) and then went back to school to pick up Reese’s (Vday gifts for Amos and Daryl) I left in the fridge. Went over to ACSI again to meet Daryl and Amos who were in the midst of Founder’s Day rehearsal. Dinner after that at Wah Chee with those two plus Kahwei Jennchong Derek, at which we all didn’t exactly eat except Derek. My Black Char Shao, Lol. Back to ACSI for Love/Retreat! Yay for Gua/Margaret! Great production, and I think Pierre and Marie are SO cute :D Well done! Dinner/Supper after that with Amos Daryl Kahwei Jenn at HollandV Essential Brew! The only incentive to go there was to use the $5 voucher that I had and turns out, it was not applicable on Fridays and weekends. OMG so wasted! Ah well at least we had a great time there :D Our food took years to come so we just lazed around and talked rubbish. Oh and they all started to adopt some American/British/French/Indonesian/Thai accent and it was CRAZY I tell you!!! I felt like I was surrounded by bimbos, just that they were ALL GUYS! Its so ironic that I was the girl, the only one at that! Omg. Dinner was pretty good, and we just continued sitting around and talking/gossiping/bitching for so long until they gave us a complimentary set of ice cream/tiramisu/mousse dessert thing. (We were rotting there for that long!) Left the place around midnight feeling semi-spooked since we ended with a discussion on our schools’ ghost stories. Heh. Thanks for the fun guys! :D Like, Oh Mon Dieu.

Daryl and Amos (censored by cushions) doing the ‘All That Jazz!’ (erotic) pose. They kept doing that against the window (we were upstairs, and there was this glass panel) so we speculated that the complimentary set of dessert was from a passerby downstairs who saw them. Like, ‘To the two sexy boys upstairs’ or something. Or perhaps even worse, Dr Lee was downstairs and he saw everything. LOL. We nearly freaked out.

The complimetary set of dessert. I managed to put the flower in my hair for a few seconds.

Saturday

I really dislike being delayed. Really. Especially when I am there for the sake of being there and nothing else. In fact I am not needed, just my presence. If my presence weren’t required I’d have left, for I am of no use to the discussion. Grr. Rushed to ACSI to pass Daryl his $15 from the dinner/supper less than 10 hours ago, and since he had a problem with his tenor sax I helped a bit. Back to school for Combined Sectionals, David and I were bitching Muahaha. Subway lunch at HollandV market with the section, then back to school for Combined. Ah well. After band, went to Heritage View with the Tbones who had Section BBQ while I had practice with Matthew Ge. A very rushed practice, 2 run throughs in 30 minutes. He rushed off after that so I crashed the Tbone BBQ. The QM Trinity Department had a meeting, Lol. (ACSI, IB, ACJC) And omg I realised Victor Yao looks like Weijie! O_O So funny. Food was not too bad, had lots of fun talking/gossiping/bitching (seems like thats all I do these days LOL) with the Tbone Happening Club or something like that. Many thanks to Jono who helped us take photos! :D Later in the night when half of their section left we started playing Blind Mice like at the Band BBQ last year, and every 5 minutes or so we had to stop playing cause the guards KEPT walking around to chase us off. So irritating. Then we switched to brisk-walk-catching which was super fun, really, everyone ought to play that one day. Cleared the place after that and left about 12ish.

Sunday

Wish I hadn’t set my alarm clock. I love to sleep in, like, wake up only when I wake up by myself. Not by alarm clocks. Ah well. Spent the afternoon doing up this major post/talking online. Met Colin and friend at Kallang MRT near 6 and we went to visit Laoshi together. (ie. He crashed my lesson.) Tang was on the phone for the first 20 minutes, then he entertained Colin for the next half an hour, then had lesson with me for the next hour, so I ended up spending about 2 hours at his place. Hai sian I thought I could slack around when he was talking to Colin :( At least I practiced :) Lesson was good, yay! He said my Adagio was good, whee! Shall practice more for the ending. Oh yes I gave him oranges and love letters and ji dan gao! Haha, he was like saying, shouldn’t I give you a red packet? Then I didn’t hear properly, so I said huh? And he started explaining what a Hong Bao was and I’m like -_- I know what it is all right. Lol. My teacher is so funny. He started laughing at me cause I was stoning while he demonstrated some scalic passages on his clarinet. Zzz. Went to satisfy my Subway craving at Harbourfront, then had a drink at Starbucks while reading GP package and waiting for my dad to pick me up.

WOW its been a REALLY long time since I did a super-detailed post like this. Like detailed stuff for every single day of the week. Plus so many photos! I guess this week’s been a great and terrible one at the same time, but definitely more good than bad. In fact, I’d call it the best week of ’08 so far! This weekend has been especially great, it’s so therapeutic and relaxing just to spend time with friends. I find myself feeling so much better and revitalized thanks to them. It feels like all the trash I go through in school just vanish when I’m with them. Thanks friends, you guys mean so much to me :)

I’ve still got some important work due tomorrow, I don’t really intend to sleep later. With 9 hours of sleep the previous night and the tea latte I had at Starbucks, think I’ll be fine.

Just when I was giving moral support to my friends, I find myself broken, crushed and shattered yet again, in need of help myself. Isn’t it ironic when we always want to help others but end up needing help ourselves? Perhaps it is only me who is like this, pathetic.

Thursday was bad enough, Friday was.. a terrible closure to the school week.

Why does this have to happen?

I told you already, no. If you insist, then just tell me straight. It will be hard for me to let go, but yes, if you insist, I will. Afterall, I’m sick and tired of your lousy out-of-the-world methods and miserable attempts. Pah, just because. Like wow, that is such a great reason. You know what? Frankly speaking, you have drained ALL the respect that I had for you. Since last year. In fact, I hate you very very much. (What strong words, but yes.) I can’t stand you as much as you can’t stand me. Using that same old tagline to snap at me everytime, thank you very much. I’ll say, you are totally not fit to be a teacher. And I daresay you know that yourself.

Enough of ranting. Next post, all the great things that has happened this week which I am thankful for. I shall forget all these unhappy moments.

To Soomin especially, and Gladys.

Why must this happen on Valentine’s day? Indeed we deserve it but, still. Ah I’ve no right to complain anyway. I’m the worst out of the lot.

My dearest music pals, do not be disheartened! Hold on to your dreams.. We must persevere! Persevere! Persevere! RAHHH. (Reminds me of Amos and his 2 years of purgatory thing.) We can do it! We can, we can! We can.. as long as we stop falling asleep in front of Sibelius/Finale, on our pianos/electone, on our compo manuscript.. We can…

):

Hugs again, many many hugs.

On a lighter note, Valentine’s been great (other than this), more about it another time.

Had a great time sitting in front of my computer laughing my head off while watching the One ACS Christmas Concert DVD. Seriously, just watching everyone’s small movements in the middle of pieces can be really amusing. Sideway glances, rubbing noses, emptying saliva, flipping pages, changing reeds, standing up at the wrong time, talking during rests.. Pretty interesting. Lol. And I just realised that Dr Lee conducted Amazing Grace without his baton.

Valentine’s in two days! :D My heart skips a beat when its you, crap.
